Biography

Professor Fang Lin Luo currently serves as a professor at AnHui University, HeFei, China, and as the director of the Research Institute of “Renewable Energy and Power Electronics.” He has a joint position at Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore since 2012. Prior to this, he was an associate professor at the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, NTU. Prof. Luo earned his B.Sc. Degree with First Class Honors (magna cum laude) in Radio-Electronic Physics at Sichuan University, Chengdu, China, and his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Cambridge University, England, UK in 1986.

Following his graduation from Sichuan University, he worked as a Senior Engineer at the Chinese Automation Research Institute of Metallurgy (CARIM) in Beijing, China. He also spent time as a project engineer at Entreprises Saunier Duval in Paris, France in 1981-1982. After completing his Ph.D. at Cambridge University, Prof. Luo held positions as a Senior Engineer at Hocking NDT Ltd, Allen-Bradley IAP Ltd, and Simplatroll Ltd. in England. He is a Fellow of the Cambridge Philosophical Society and a Senior Member of IEEE. With over 15 published books and more than 300 technical papers in IEE/IET Proceedings, IEEE Transactions, and various International Conferences, Prof. Luo has made significant contributions to the field of Power Electronics.
